Froyo 2.2 Install Troubleshooting for Wildfire

A few of my fellow HTC Wildfire owners across Europe may already be running into problems when trying to find or download Froyo 2.2 on their Wildfires.

Problem 1 - Where is the update?; The obvious first issue is where do you go for this download? I have covered this in a previous post, so if this is one of your issues you can find the answer there.

Problem 2 - Install over phone failed to work; You may have downloaded the update over the phone, clicked install and received this error message:

E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

If this is the case try the answer below:

When installing, if the little android logo appears with a triangle with an exclamation mark (!) inside it, press your power button. Some text should appear that says: E:signtature verification failed, your download didn't work.

Try rebooting your phone where you will be prompted to try the download again. If this doesn't work you will need to go to the download folder on your SD card and delete the OTA*.zip in there. Then check for the update again.

Problem 3 - Can't find update; Try disabling and re-enabling your wifi / 3G network, then check once more for the update.

My partner noticed last week, when there was an update for his HTC Desire, that when he checked for the update it said it wasn't there. He tried disabling / re-enabling the wifi/3g and it picked up the update. Give it a go.
