Although many of us are still awaiting our update to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), Jelly Bean is now officially only days away from debuting on Google Nexus 7. Can we expect a tasty new recipe that has as much variety as a pack of gourmet Jelly Beans however, or is this update rather inconsequential and lacking in flavours to tantalise our tastebuds?

4. Improved User Interface

This is the feature in Ice Cream Sandwich that unites both smartphones and tablets. Originally optimised for Android tablets and Honeycomb, this UI has been intergrated into Ice Cream Sandwich to give Android smartphone users a slicker experience. 3D effect graphics are just one feature you can enjoy.

Updates, updates, updates. This is something you will be aware happens periodically, if you follow Android news. As soon as a new OS (operating system) is released, you can be sure there is an even newer one waiting just around the corner. To prove the point, Ice Cream Sandwich will be followed by a Jelly Bean (?) update in the very near future.

Will Wildfire Users ever Feast on Gingerbread?

In early December Gingerbread 2.3 was released and is beginning to find its way onto android phones. As Wildfire owners we are only now enjoying the cool sensations of Froyo 2.2 (if we are located in Europe) and will probably only ever get close to Gingerbread if we visit our local bakery. Although there will always be a custom rom of one kind or another that will do the job. Some modders have got hold of Gingerbread, Android 2.3 to you and me, and got a rough and ready version working on a HTC Wildfire phone. Watch the video here:
