To VillainROM or not to VillainROM?

As some of you may have noticed, VillainROM 1.0.0 has been proposed as an alternative to Froyo 2.2 for HTC Wildfire. I have taken a look at their website and have to admit that it leaves me a little confused, but that is to be expected as I am a self confessed noob! Lucky for me then, if I choose to use this, that my better half is a computer whizz.

VillainROM describes itself as: 'a team of collaborative developers, working towards a common goal; to improve on manufacturer’s versions of the Android OS’ and to provide alternative, AOSP versions.' So, in a nutshell, they design custom roms, and in this instance, this may be the saving grace we need if HTC fail to deliver. VillainROM claims that HTC features on the Wildfire are left intact and unaffected after installing VillainROM 1.0.0 plus they are very keen to fix any bugs that are reported. Any issues raised while using this custom rom for the Wildfire seems to be well covered in the forum on VillainROM's website. It seems these guys simply share a passion and depend on help from the likes of ourselves to keep them afloat. They are always on the lookout for people willing to donate spare space on a server (ideally with a high data cap, and a few gigs of space not being used) to enable them to host their VillainROM mirror servers (meaning that they can use multiple servers to enable fast downloads, unlike rapidshare). If anybody is brave enough (or clever enough) to try this custom rom I would be very interested to hear of your experience.
