Amazon Appstore US is Now Live!

The wait is finally over, for US users at least. There is, however, no news yet as to when Amazon Appstore will be available for UK and other countries.

If you are in the US and have an android phone, or you are in the UK or elsewhere and want to get a taster of what is to come, make your way over to  Amazon Appstore to join in the feast and start downloading some juicy apps (US only).

Immerse yourself in an aladdins cave of android apps; search free or paid apps, choose genre and search either by Amazon customer reviews, price lowest to highest, price highest to lowest or simply refine your search, ie: cut out the less popular apps and search bestsellers only. Amazon Appstore US offers a seamless, intuitive browsing experience as you would expect from Amazon. Also, expect cheaper prices than what's on offer from Google Marketplace and, of course, the no hassle, one click buying.

On the downside, you cannot request money back if you are less than happy with an app, as there is a no-return policy; instead, Amazon craftily offer a pc browser test drive on certain apps, claiming that this allows you to get a feel for the app in the same way it would be on your android device. Amazon.com have locked down their Android Appstore to American customers only by the fact that you have to register a credit or debit card on Amazon.com that is issued in the US with a US billing address. There is a problem for AT&T customers too at the moment, they just aren't supported at this time. Amazon and AT&T are currently working on resolving this issue and offer an alert to AT&T customers, to let them know via email as soon as this service becomes available. Remote installation is not available from your pc browser, a huge thumbs down as Google Marketplace has this convenient feature (a feature we have recently intergrated into our own app reviews, look for "Free Download").

Every day Amazon are offering a different paid app to download for free; a deal not to be sniffed at.

Not to mention the exclusive Angry Birds Rio,which is free for a limited time only.
