Polaroid 3D Glasses Free Android Tablet Coming Soon

Polaroid announced its Smart Camera at CES earlier this year, amidst confusion as to whether it was actually a camera phone or simply a camera with access to Android apps. At the same time there were whispers of a Polaroid Android tablet on the horizon. Now it seems that Polaroid are indeed poised to unleash a 10 inch Android tablet into the UK market, although this tablet brings something special to consumers, glassless 3D!

Glassless 3D technology has been used on a few occasions during the past 12 months, with Android phones such as HTC Evo and LG Optimus 3D making somewhat of a success of it, and Android tablets such as Scroll Excel and LG Optimus Pad bringing half baked 3D promises to the table. There are a few potential new members of the 3D Android family due to join the revolution in 2012, including LG 3D Max and Aigo 3D Pad, but will Polaroid's 3D offering be a resounding success or a damp squib?

Polaroid's 3D Android tablet is already available for preorder in other parts of Europe for a very healthy price, but is there anything other than glassless 3D and competitive pricing to make a fuss about?

This 10 inch tablet runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and a 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex single-core processor. It has a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 and an aspect ration of 4.3, which is similar to that of Nintendo 3DS. It has 512 MB RAM and 4 GB of internal storage that you can bump up by another 32 GB via a microSD slot. There is also a front-facing camera for those intimate video calls.

Lets just hope that its 3D kicks ass, unlike other 3D tablets that merely allowed for 3D output and had no 3D display.

UK Release Date and Price

Polaroid's 10 inch 3D Android tablet is available to preorder online in parts of Europe, priced at 249€, which makes it an incredible price of around £205 GBP or $325 USD. There are no definite dates for UK release just yet but we will make sure to keep you updated.
