Huawei Ascend G 300, otherwise known as Huawei ASURA, is now available exclusively on Vodafone in the UK, other European countries and New Zealand. Another day, another dollar, or in this case another fantastic entry-level Android phone to add to this ever growing recession friendly market.
The addition of Huawei Ascend D 300 is also good news for Chinese tech company Huawei, as it's another weapon to add to their arsenal. Their plan to extend their own brand and get a firm footing in the Android ladder of supremacy is coming to fruition. Not only is this hot little babe on UK shores, we also have Huawei Ascend P1 (dual-core) to look forward to in the very near future. Their is speculation that Ascend P1 may be here as soon as May, but looks likely to be later in the summer. Then there are their rather more high-end handsets; Huawei Ascend D1, Huawei Ascend D quad and Huawei Ascend D quad XL to loom out for in the coming months too!
Huawei Ascend D 300 Specs are Real Good for it's Price
Although Huawei Ascend G 300 ships with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) aboard, there are promises within Huawei's press release that by summer this entry-level price / mid-range specs smartphone will be able to cool off in the heat with an update to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It has a very respectable 4 inch screen with adequate resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.
A 1 GHz single-core processor will give plenty of muscle to this little diamond. 2.5 GB internal storage is, as usual, complimented by a microSD card slot that allows up to another 32 GB of memory and there is a 1500 mAh battery to ensure up to 5 hours of talktime before a charge is needed. There is a 5 MP rear facing camera and VGA video, but sadly it's lacking a front facing face snapper.
Overall, if you're after an affordable Android phone in 2012, you should definitely consider Huawei!
UK Price - Pay As You Go and Contract
Huawei Ascend D 300 is available in the UK on pay as you go direct from Vodafone for a very nice £100. Alternatively, you can acquire this handset free on a 2 year contract with Vodafone, starting from as little as £15.50 per month. Included in the contract is 100 minutes, 500 texts, 250 MB of 3G internet access and an extra 500 MB of BT Openzone Wi-Fi.
