ZTE Grand X - A Whole Lot of Entry-level Fun

ZTE Grand X, also known as ZTE Mimosa X, released in July, is an entry-level phone that has a whole lot to offer. ZTE is still a little known name in the smartphone world that likes to offer you real value for money. Don't be mistaken however, even if you aren't familiar with the name, they still have many years experience in the industry and are masters of their trade.

ZTE Grand X shown from all angles.

ZTE Grand X is an entry-level phone that has not skimped on specs in any way whatsoever, which is what you tend to get when the price tag shrinks. Most of the best known manufacturers tend to throw in a handful of healthy specs and a heap of outdated utter rubbish that tends to cancel out any benefits of the healthy stuff. ZTE Grand X is mostly the healthy stuff which gets a thumbs up from us.

It weighs in at a rather light 110 grams and has a waist measurement of 9.9 mm, so it is certainly not portly. A more than generous 4.3 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen graces the front of this handset with an acceptable resolution of 540 x 960 pixels.

Powering this worthy entry-level edition is a 1 GHz dual-core CPU with a ULP GeForce GPU, enough to see you through most activities with ease. Add Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) into the equation and you're onto a winner.

There is 4 GB of storage and 512 MB RAM, ample room to store your media, but if that is not enough you can always add up to a further 32 GB via the microSD slot.

The disappointment, we feel, is the camera. It would be nice to see an entry-level phone with a camera offering more than 5 MP, although the addition of a front facing snapper is nice to see. To top it off, a 1650 mAh Li-Ion battery keeps ZTE Grand X ticking over nicely.

Best of all, ZTE Grand X can be snapped up on Virgin, Pay-as-you-go, for as little as £185!
