LG Optimus 3G Max - Not in the UK!

Just lately we seem to be showcasing a whole host of Android phones that we've previously got excited over, especially as the juicy gossip emerged from CES and MWC earlier this year. It seems that our excitement regarding LG Optimus 3G Max was a smidgen premature, as further news concerning release dates have yet again left the UK out in the cold.

LG Optimus 3D Max wont be coming to the UK.

There is an imminent release across Europe (does the UK not reside within Europe?), but it seems that even wild 3D horses cannot gallop towards Blighty with LG's second 3D Android phone offering. But yet again, is LG Optimus 3D Max simply a minutely modified clone of the original LG Optimus 3D?

LG Optimus 3D Max, new Android phone.

Other than the usual tweaking in the battery and dimensions departments, there is really very little difference between LG Optimus 3D Max and its 'not in the UK' successor. The battery has increased from 1500 mAh to 1520 mAh, and 3D Max has lost a huge 20 grams in weight, shrinking from 168 grams to 148 grams. It's also lost a few millimetres from its waist, dropping from technological dress size 11.9 mm depth to 9.6 mm. Fair enough, the dual-core CPU has also jumped a notch, from 1 GHz to 1.2 GHz of processing power.

A shocking fact is the absence of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It beggars belief that we are still getting new Android phones from technology giants being shipped without Ice Cream Sandwich. It is almost the middle of 2012 for Christ sake, before we know it we will be on to the Jellybean operating system.

As almost all the other specs remain pretty much the same, the main mitigating factor comes down to whether glasses free 3D is your thing! Dominic, Heavenly Android's SEO expert has enjoyed a few months hands-on time with the original LG Optimus 3D, with the 3D aspect being the main reason he chose this particular handset. He happens to be a massive fan of all things 3D, and LG Optimus 3D certainly hasn't disappointed.

Although, even he will admit, the novelty of 3D has worn of in a certain way. It's rare that he plays games, that incidentally can be upscaled from 2D to 3D even on the original LG 3D, or watches videos in 3D anymore. The one use he still champions in 3D mode is video shooting and photographs. Bless, he may just be a little upset when he hears that the UK won't be stocking his 3D fix.
