Anyone fancy a tasty android Ice Cream Sandwich? Maybe not the thing to be consuming in the middle of an icy winter, but we're not talking the variety that passes your lips!

Hoping to be on UK shelves just in time for a very merry Xmas, Samsung Galaxy Nexus comes to you dressed in all its Christmas finery. Not content with the fact that it is the first android phone to run the very latest version of android (4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich), Galaxy Nexus is determined to be the best at the Christmas ball, and debuts with a second world first; a 4.65 inch HD sAMOLED contoured display.

A release date for Samsung Galaxy Nexus was initially pencilled in for October 11th, but was apparently postponed as a mark of respect for Steve Jobs very sad and untimely demise.

Apple iPhone is facing more and more pressure to deliver, in the area of smartphone supremacy, as the giant companies supporting Google Android continue to push the boundaries, offering both quantity and quality and delivering the goods at a much greater speed than Apple could ever compete with.

Samsung Nexus Generation

Samsung Galaxy Nexus is a whole bunch of Xmas presents all on its own, as it comes with more forward thinking technology than any android phone to date. Besides android 4.0 fascilitating internet browsing that's eaiser and faster than the time it takes Santa to deliver his pressies and an improved snapper, there are also a couple of surprises.

Firstly, as expected, Nexus ships with NFC technology on board. And NFC will be able to be utilised straight with Android Beam. Android Beam is a nice little feature that comes as standard with Galaxy Nexus, that allows content such as web pages and apps to be shared between two NFC enabled devices by simply touching them together. Bluetooth is no longer needed for sharing! For those of you without NFC technology on your phone, Bump is an android app that works in a similar way to Android Beam.

Face recognition technology is the second killer feature that Nexus proudly presents to you. Face Unlock allows you to have extra security on your android and uses facial recognition to unlock the device. How cool is that?

Along with the other tempting features such as the super sized 4.65 HD screen, this is an android dream phone, and one that sets the standard for both android and iPhone in the coming year.
