Samsung have set tongues wagging at CES 2012 with rumours, promises and Android home security in the form of Samsung SmartCam. Below Heavenly Android takes a lingering look at Samsung's CES 2012 news, and some of it is going to get you real excited.
Samsung all Day Android Battery Big Fat Promise
Samsung has made a big fat promise to its Android consumers at CES 2012. It's promised, hands on heart, that all of its Android phones, as from now, will sport a battery that will last all day long, without being hungry for a recharge.
As every spec found on Android phones have grown bigger and better over the past couple of years, batterys have struggled to keep up and have found themselves trailing lethargically behind. CPU's have sped up from 800 MHz single core to 1 GHz quad core and above. Screens have reached the 5 inch scale and internal memory capacity has just gotten bigger and bigger, with up to 8 GB tucked neatly inside the most recent high end Android smartphones.
It has seemed that manufacturers just haven't been prepared to address the issue of battery life up until now. Though what use is an ultra powerful Android phone that has to be almost constantly plugged into the mains? It beggars belief that placing an adequate battery into these devices has been so problematic.
“When you wake up to when you go to bed, we don’t want you feeling anxiety about your battery life.” Samsung vice president, Kevin Packingham said at CES.
Packingham implied that besides beefing up Samung Android batterys, smartphone optimisation would help to decrease dreaded battery drain.
Huawei have been the only Android mobile phone technology company, other than Samsung, to chase the elusive all day battery dream to date. Huawei Honor, which incidentally is coming soon to the UK, was touted as an Android phone with a 3 day battery. This may be a little too good to be true, but nevertheless, Honor's Li-Ion 1930 mAh battery should still up the ante of Android battery stakes.
This news from Samsung is sure to be the kick up the nether regions that other Android phone manufacturers such as HTC have long needed.
Samung Galaxy S III - Reality or Rumour?
Samung delighted in tantalising and teasing at CES 2012, with hints of a future Samsung Galaxy S III on the horizon. If it transpires, Samsung Galaxy S III would be one of Samsung's first Android phones to offer the amazing all day battery life they've promised.
GsmArena seem to verify this prediction, as they've received mysterious info from a Mr Anonymous from the very secretive/naughty 4chan forums, just as they received very real information concerning Google Nexus Prime and Ice Cream Sandwich well before it arrived.
Samsung Galaxy S III, whether truth or lies, has rather tasty set of specs. Cream of the crop will be a massive 2,250 mAh battery (is this the spec needed for an all dayer then?). An impressive quad core 2.0 GHz CPU Android heart will provide speed deserving of the Android Olympic's, there will be a very ample 10 MP camera and 1080p video recording at 60fps and an outsized 4.65 inch super AMOLED 1280 x 1024 display with 352 PPI ( pixels per inch), the highest on a smartphone to date.
GsmArena claims that the specs quoted by their anonymous friend seem a little odd for Android, so they're certainly not taking the specs they've been given seriously at this moment in time.
Best keep our digits crossed that Samsung have not been telling porkies about this one!
