Blackberry Android Phones

In early 2012, new BlackBerry mobile phones (operating system QNX), will be Android enabled, according to Bloomberg News agency. This will kill 2 'blackbirds' with one stone, enabling the best of both worlds for die-hard BlackBerry enthusiasts. Not only will they be able to keep their beloved smartphones and BBM (BlackBerry messaging), they will also be able to access the infinite number of android apps from Google Android Market.

RIM (Research in Motion) have struggled to compete with iOS and Android, with app developers not exactly beating down their virtual door to develop apps for them, which has left Blackberry owners with a paltry nest of BlackBerry app eggs to choose from.

BlackBerry to get Android apps.

BlackBerry PlayBook has not been much of a playbook either, think of a park with no swings, possibly suffering more than the BlackBerry phones with a lack of apps (most of which require a bridge from the phone to the tablet) and BBM not available, deeming it little more than a internet screen. It has been disappointing to such a degree that one UK network refused to stock it.

BlackBerry's have not been flying out of the shops as quickly as usual, so a Google/BlackBerry collaboration can only be a good thing.

For anyone who's itching to acquire the first BlackBerry smartphone that runs android, it's rumoured that the first model will be the BlackBerry Colt. Specs for this handset are expected to include a single-core 1.2GHz processor, 900+ screen resolution and 4.3 inch touchscreen.
