It's nice to see more and more Android apps appearing that are optimised for tablets. Just a few months ago it was hard to find hardly anything, which was quite a disappointment. It didn't do much to convince iPad owners, who had iTunes to keep them happy, to move over to Android. Soon enough we wont have to worry about finding apps that work on larger screens, as devices are updated to a unified operating system such as Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), apps work well on any size screen. For now there are numerous Android appstores appearing across the web that are tablet specific, and Google Play (formerly know as Android Market) have paid attention to consumers needs, adding a new sub-section called 'Staff Picks for Tablet'.
Heavenly Android's had a laugh, delving into Google Play's sack of Android games that are suitable for tablets for the last few weeks, and we'd like to present our top ten favourites to you. We'd also love to hear what your favourite Android game for tablets is. Leave a comment and let us know. Happy gaming! 10. Mahjong Mahjong tiles is one of the most addictive solitaire pair matching games in existence. Hugely popular as a PC game since the dawn of home PC's, it's great to see a fantastic version of this ancient Chinese game available for Android. Mahjong by developer Magma Mobile is a perfect Mahjong tile game that plays beautifully on tablets. Simply match as many pairs of tiles as you can within the pyramid, but only tiles on the top layer and at the edges can be played! With over 80 tables to choose from you will never get bored, although I am such a fanatic that the default board will do for me.
9. Fantasy town Fantasy Town by developer Gameloft allows your imagination to run wild. Create a town full of mythical characters that will enchant you, such as fairies and dwarfs that work harder than Snow Whites seven. Build castles, houses and farm the land. There are potions to collect, mini games to play by visiting the green balloon and you can share your perfect paradise with friends. If you are a fan of Sims and role-play, fantasy games are your thing, Fantasy Town may just be a game for your Android tablet.
8. Photon Photon by developer Bifrost Studios is a Tetris / Fruit Quest style game with a unique slant. Remove matching groups of coloured discs as they cascade down your screen by swiping a finger across them, tilt your Android device to manipulate where each disc falls. Beware of enemy discs that can swell and prevent you from clearing the screen, some discs have special properties that can help your gameplay too. Can even be played if you're colour blind.
